Posting Potter MRI report- comments?

Post by deBBieW »

Hello.... I did not get to speak with Dr. Potter, as I expected. I did ask several different people. I'm attaching my MRI report from Potter- so sorry the pages are OUT of order. Now that I have the impression, of course I have more questions. I've yet to speak to my ordering physician, only her assistant, and she just said oh yes it looks like you are loaded with scar tissue. (this was before I saw the report myself). I didn't get too worked up, it is what it is, and of course there is all the controversy about Potter's accuracy. My pelvic floor therapist will know more and I see her on Wed. I just want to pick through it line by line with someone that knows anatomy. My pain originally started on the left, with a tight hamstring I thought, and it morphed to awful vaginal pain, and on to the right side etc..... When I read more scar tissue on the left that does make sense. I do have some IT band pain going on, and I think some bursitis, again on the left side.... so I do have some hip issues.

Regarding scar tissue, I've never had surgery. Given birth 2x, vaginal, no real problems - 1st birth I had a big baby, an episotomy and some ripping. Second birth, not even sure if I had any stitches. So what causes all this scar tissue, I suspect a mechanical problem with my pelvis.

I've made an appointment with Hibner just for a consult... next stop on the train I guess. My central sensitization burning (legs) is just as annoying as the PN itself, if I could just get that to go away I think I could deal better with the PN pain.... but that's asking for a miracle I guess.
I would appreciate any comments on the report.

Thank you... Debbie
P.S. NYC was awesome, my husband and I did a fair amount of sightseeing, I got a break for those days :)

Hi Debbie,

Looks like a lot of scar tissue and also I noticed the statement about the thickened SS ligament which sounds like it could be of significance. I think with Potter's MRI's that what shows up is actually there -- I don't think anyone questions that. I think the question is, are those the things that are causing your pain or are there other things that don't show up that might be the cause? In your case it certainly seems plausible that what she saw could be the culprit in what's causing your pain.

I may be in NYC this summer -- what would your recommend I see if I only have a short amount of time? I'm from out west and never been there before.

Good luck with your upcoming visit to Dr. Hibner and as you make decisions in your future treatments. ;)

Best,

Violet
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
