Re: New Member - Please Help This Human Find Clarity
Disagree about the size. I was very symptomatic at 1.2cm right side and 8mm left side, S2. This is possible in the sacrum because the sacral canal is very narrow, and so nerve root compression does not require something large. This link will bring you to a page where in one of the posts I shared scr...

Re: New Member - Please Help This Human Find Clarity
If you have not had one, I would suggest electroconductive studies of the lower extremities: these are much easier to access than pudendal diagnostics. You might have asymptomatic issues with the lower extremities such as reduced sensation, reduced reflexes, reduced motor nerve activity. These thing...

Re: Newby needs advice
There is a "find a doctor" listing you can find on the home page menu, but the are not all equal so be very cautious about "the closest". Without actually checking, I believe the closest might be Dr. Dellon and that sets off lots of alarm bells, search his name on the forum and i...

Re: New Here
You seem like a very promising case to recover fully, based on the mechanism of onset. Sounds like you just got some UTI's and as a result impinged on the nerves with too much muscular tension. significantly increasing water intake really does have potential to help with urethral burning. Also, rega...

Re: Newby needs advice
The closest I have ever heard to this is the concept of chemical radiculopathy, which is where a disc with an annular tear changes the chemical environment surrounding the nerve root to cause pain. This sounds similar in that whatever leaked onto the pudendal nerve must have caused some kind of chem...

Re: PNE/PN and Sexual Disability
The nerve might be compressed, hence the numbness, not by a true entrapment which needs sugical decompression, but in tight bands of muscle or another similar structural situation which could be resolved with PT. A limited number of doctors do dorsal nerve surgeries. I would expect them all to be ho...

Re: PNE/PN and Sexual Disability
PNE is to an extent a diagnosis of exclusion, but there are nondefinitive indicators such as the 3T an PNMLT which can give you an idea as to whether or not you are on the right track. The "hurry up" thing is a double edged sword of sorts - As I said I had compression of the S2 nerve roots...

Re: PNE/PN and Sexual Disability
You said you came to suspect PNE by process of elimination because what else could it be, but to me there seem to be LOTS of other possibilities, especially because PNE tends to be rather rare and IMO overdiagnosed - I say that because i have seen people rush into surgery and / or be offered surgery...

Re: PNE/PN and Sexual Disability
Have you considered a PNMLT or pudendal EMG to rule out or confirm a problem with the pudendal nerve? This does not sound like a typical pudendal presentation. It also does not sound like a pudendal block would be useful for diagnostics given your symptoms.

Re: Where to begin?
I never got taken seriously by any physician until AFTER the horrid state of my pelvis was validated by a PT. Your nice GYN might give you a referral, but if she was concerned but unsure how to help, she probably does not know of an appropriate PT to refer you to. Go to the HOPE homepage an click &q...
