Re: Hot Tubs
I find that the heavy level of chlorination that is needed for the upkeep of a hot tub clearly irritates the nerves in my case. I think a simple hot bath with Epsom Salt is better. Good point, and I can't believe I forgot to think about that. Chlorine can be a huge irritant, and I agree that Epsom ...

Re: Hot Tubs
I don't know of any official information, but after taking nightly hot baths and doing pelvic floor drops in tub for over a year now, I can say that particular home remedy has helped me. All my PT's strongly suggest daily hot baths with pelvic floor relaxation. Certainly can't hurt!

Re: HOW physioterapy can help for PNE?
If you do have an actual entrapment I don't think physio will help unfortunately. If it does help, long term especially, you can usually decide that you have pudendal neuralgia (PN) and not pudendal nerve entrapment (PNE) Having PN would be much better :) and easier to deal with conservatively, wit...

Re: Any home pt exercises?
Also, Isa Herrera's book has excellent advice on at home physical therapy. I suggest reading both her book and Stein's book.

Re: Dr. Martin
Very interesting information. I knew this was coming for Dr. Martin, but wasn't up on the specifics. I hope he continues to see more successful pudendal surgeries. I'm not sure he knows what he's getting into in regards to the number of patients that may soon be contacting his office! Personally, I'...

Re: Hip pain
Hi Lernica, I never had an arthrogram on my right hip, although they are the gold standard for diagnosing hip joint dysfunction and pathology. We based my surgery on the fact that my x-rays and regular MRI showed impingement and I had clinical symptoms of a labral tear. Good thing, b/c my tear was h...

Re: Muscle Relaxants
A pain management doctor told me the muscle relaxer Zanaflex also has a small effect on the central nervous system and thus an analgesic effect also. It's a fabulous muscle relaxer for me, but I could only take it at night because it knocked me out.

Re: Physio for PN
Hi Chris, I got better with conservative treatment, physical therapy being one of those treatments. I'm not "cured" by any means, but consider myself pretty functional, as long as I know my limitations. I work as a teacher, travel, and am socially active. I've seen four pelvic floor PT's (...

Re: Ischial Tuberosity pain
My ischial tuberosity pain is greatly helped by external PT over the area--connective tissue work and ultrasound specifically. I know that type of PT sometimes flares others, but it has been a lifesaver for me and enabled me to sit much more.

Re: Big News, Medication Taper and Why
Hi all.. just want to update you... the taper is going ok, I have my good days and not so good. I'm staying at 3mg of Suboxone now and gonna take it real slow. I have my first appointment with my new PMD this week who is supervising my taper. My pain levels are a little higher since my doses have d...
