Re: Surgery/treatment dilemma
I'm surprised this was caused by no direct trauma but most likely from the bicycle seat. Well, the bicycle seat is direct trauma is it not? It was just over a long period of time, rather than a one off incident. Here is a copy of the surgery findings, as given to me by Prof Aszmann: "We have d...

Re: varioceles in alcocks canal
This was in the report Dr Aszmann gave me after surgery "The left pudendal nerve had a significant pseudoneuroma with some internal scarring. Both the roof of the canal was very fibrotic and there was marked varicositas vessels alongside the nerve ." I asked about these 'varicositas thingy...

Re: Chronic Pelvic Pain Sydney
Last I had spoken with him, he has moved to the ROBERT approach because the TIR results did not seem to be very good. You might have been one in a minority of 'successes'.

Re: Surgery/treatment dilemma
I am now 2 days post-op from distal pudendal nerve release surgery, performed by Prof Aszmann in Austria, and feeling pretty good. It is too early to tell if the surgery has been a success but Prof Aszmann was very confident and excited, as he "has never seen such a clear case of nerve compress...

Re: Chronic Pelvic Pain Sydney
The initial treatment options given are physio, osteo, & acupuncture. If that does not help, I think trigger point or botox injections are offered (I did not elect to proceed with these). The only surgery option offered is the ROBERT technique, and is not performed by Prof Vancaillie himself, bu...

Re: Surgery/treatment dilemma
An update for anyone who may be interested. I have been in contact with Dr Oskar Aszmann, who has reviewed my case and MRI, and the results have come back as: "Today I have looked at your MRI Images with my radiologist. Rarely have we seen such clear pathology around the dorsal nerve. Impressiv...

Re: Surgery/treatment dilemma
Thank you all for your kind words and advice. I have stopped all cycling for a good 8 months now, in fact I am ready to throw the bloody things on the rubbush dump! The only physical activity I do now is to swim a few days a week, when I am feeling able, to try and keep my sanity (previous to PN my ...

Surgery/treatment dilemma
This will likely be a long rambling post, but I hope you can stick with me. I am desperate.... I am a 29 y/o male in Australia. I developed PN symptoms after cycling back in August 2010. Initially I had complete numbness of the genitals and erectile dysfunction that was complete for 24 hours. Severe...
