Re: hernias.

I had a similar scenario. I don't remember how much time passed between hernia repair, and recurrence of pain, but I did have a period of relief. I believe that a nerve in the area (ilioinguinal maybe) ended up getting trapped in scar tissue that formed after the hernia surgery. I'm leaving a lot of...

Re: Any neurosurgeons for this trapped nerve in groin

Hi Anita, Can you tell me the name of the Minnesota clinic and its location where the cryoablation of the ilioinguinal nerve was done? It was done by Dr David Schultz at MAPS Medical Pain Clinics in the Twin Cities area. There are several locations, and I"m not sure which ones Dr Schultz is cu...

Re: Any neurosurgeons for this trapped nerve in groin

HI Stephanies,

The nerve pain relief was basically immediate after the cryoablation procedure. I remember a bit of soreness/stiffness in the hip area afterwards, but I think that was more related to the procedure, positioning, probe being inserted, etc.

Re: Any neurosurgeons for this trapped nerve in groin

Hi Hank, The doctor suggested the cryoablation. I think the other method that I read about on their website at the time was RF ablation, and I had asked if that was an option, but he said that the cryo was a better option for this situation. I didn't ask a lot of questions why, as long as I knew tha...

Re: Any neurosurgeons for this trapped nerve in groin

Hi Hank, what part of the country are you in, and are you willing to travel? I had cryoablation (freezing) of the ilioinguinal nerve done several years ago at a pain clinic in Minnesota.

Re: Mild pudendal neuralgia?

Your story sounds kind of like mine. Biggest problem I have is the lack of sensation. Some issues with pelvic pain. I'm fortunate that sitting isn't really a big issue for me. I was diagnosed with pudendal neuralgia about 6 or 7 years ago, but don't know if that was an accurate diagnosis (I felt lik...

Re: Having a ilioinguinal nerve block

Hi Beverley, I am "one of the gals who posted in that thread" that Violet linked to. I had mine done at a local pain clinic. It's been a while, so I don't remember all of the details anymore. It was basically just an injection of anesthetic and steroid into the groin area, not guided, but ...

Re: Risk of Steroid Epidural Injections

Oh my gosh, this is really scary, I had an epideral injection about 3 weeks ago, and also in the past 4 years. among the 3 I had from Dr.Antalok, 2 different pain clinics, Include another 4 from them. Since when is Dr Antolak doing epidural injections? That would make me a little nervous, having a u...

Re: Freezing Nerves Knocks Pain out Cold

Helen, I've had no recurring pain since the last cryo treatment in 2008. Wow, I guess that's over 5 years ago now! There is still some residual numbness, but I can't say I notice that unless I specifically touch the area looking for where it's numb. I think that some of the feeling has even come bac...

Re: Freezing Nerves Knocks Pain out Cold

There is another article posted the next day (Apr 15) that is linked from that page under "More Coverage", too. Basically the same article, with a little more information (also looks like they corrected some things like the temperature of the probe, etc). One thing the second article menti...
