Re: Surgery Complete! Pain pump placed at S2 update 4/24/15

Carl, I LOVE that numb feeling!!!! It is a miracle to not feel that knife pain that slashed into the left side of my most private area.... and sometimes the pain was so intense, along with my bladder pain, that I could not stand being awake. I had to medicate myself to sleep! I used to pray that a d...

Re: Surgery Complete! Pain pump placed at S2 update 4/15/15

Hi Quilter, as far as your questions.... I don't believe you develop a tolerance like you do with oral narcotics. I do know that the amount of medication needed when delivered directly to the spinal fluid is 1/300 of what would be needed if taken orally. That greatly reduces the effect of the drugs ...

Re: Surgery Complete! Pain pump placed at S2 update 4/15/15

River, I can tell you about my trial. (This is my memory of it, as accurately as possible!) Dr. Prager administered my trial himself. After inserting the catheter into my spine under CT-guidance (I was on my tummy on a scanner while he watched in the monitor) I was moved to a hospital bed and closel...

Re: Anesthetic Pain Pump for PN?

Thanks, and best wishes on your pre-op and surgery! It sounds like it was moved up from May, right? Once you know where they are placing the catheter I would be very interested in hearing more about it. My understanding from your previous posts was that it was going to be placed in the pudendal cana...

Re: Anesthetic Pain Pump for PN?

I am very interested in this! I read your story on a different thread and will continue watching for your posts. As a pudendal pain patient with a "standard" intrathecal pump with catheter going to the spinal canal, I am excited about this new procedure. Have you found anyone who has had t...
