Re: Progress with Dorsal Nerve Decompression
Thanks, Ezer. I appreciate it. I had seen your name before but I didn't recall that you had had surgery with Dr. Dellon. I looked through some of your old posts to refresh my recollection. Boy, that Dr. Dellon thread is pretty darn depressing. My thoughts as of now: 1. One area where we could use im...

Re: Progress with Dorsal Nerve Decompression
Thanks. To his credit, Dr. Dellon replied very quickly to my e-mail. He indicated that since I have come this far there shouldn't be any scar tissue forming unless I re-injure the nerve. (Which I haven't.) Hopefully the nerve is just more sensitive as it continues to regenerate. Thanks for the suppo...

Re: Progress with Dorsal Nerve Decompression
Another update. I've had a rough past couple of days. In particular, I've experienced increasing discomfort without having performed activities that might explain it. Accordingly, I am worried about backsliding. The other day I swear I wanted to go jump off a bridge. As you guys know, dealing with t...

Re: Please Help! Exercise Induced ?
I'm sorry to hear that you're in pain, davyboy. Regarding push-ups, you probably won't do any damage to the pudendal nerve by doing them. However, because you'll have to tighten your core muscles (including your pelvic floor) in order to do the push-ups, you may increase your level of discomfort bec...

Re: Help me understand the "Relieved by sitting on a toilet
I don't know that it will always be the case that sitting on a toilet seat will relieve the pain of PN/PNE. It is just that compared to a regular/flat seat, a toilet seat is going to be more comfortable, for the reason that Bathsheba stated . . . that the toilet seat distributes your weight to areas...

Re: Progress with Dorsal Nerve Decompression
A quick update--I have now zeroed out all of my medication. To me that is a very good sign. I am still observing activity restrictions -- minimizing sitting, no strenuous exercise, etc. -- but things do seem to be getting better so I'm sticking with my current course. Discomfort is slowly decreasing...

Re: If medication, what medication?
Sorry to hear about your pain. Hang in there. If I might offer some advice, I would say that you should try medication to see if something works for you. There are all sorts of medications in use for neuropathic pain and one or more of them might work. Neuropathic pain medications also don't have th...

Progress with Dorsal Nerve Decompression
I just wanted to post a quick progress update. I had dorsal nerve decompression with Dr. Dellon at the end of September. Today marks 23 weeks since surgery. Progress continues. Prior to surgery I had been taking 4800 mg of Gabapentin per day and 60 mg of Cymbalta. As of yesterday I have stepped my G...

Re: Dr. Dellon
I had bilateral decompression surgery on my dorsal nerve and my perineal branches too. I had surgery at the end of September 2011. I believe Dr. Dellon is the most experienced with this kind of surgery. His fees are quite high but he is a very good surgeon, his manner is very good and he has been ex...

Re: Surgery/treatment dilemma
Hi PNdownunder. Sorry to hear of your problems. My cause and symptoms sound very similar to yours. (Too much biking, not heeding the warning signs, and then problems that got way worse even after I stopped biking.) I had surgery with Dr. Dellon at the end of September 2011. I have been on the mend f...
