Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

The MRIs did not show pudendal entrapment; my specialist told me before I went for this test that it wouldn't, as MRIs are not yet advanced enough. However she said that even if nothing showed up on the MRI, it wasn't because I didn't have a problem(s). She diagnosed me with pgad, vulvodynia, pudend...

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi Deb, Sorry that all you are having a difficult time, and you have found little to offer consistent relief. Regarding nerve blocks, my doctor did them "unguided" right in her office; she is a surgeon and knows where these nerves are supposed to be. She would first do nerve blocks in the ...

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi Deb, Dr. Vancaillie knows a lot about PGAD and pudendal neuralgia, he is one of the top doctors in Australia. Once I had pudendal nerve blocks done, my PT could not believe how much it had helped my pelvic floor to relax, she even thought it might be a good first step before physiotherapy. These ...

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi Adelaide, Other women have complained that urinating makes their arousal symptoms much worse. I had bladder spasms and often a burning urethra, which my doctor explained as being part of the same package as PGAD because the bladder, urethra, uterus, rectum and genital area are all fed by differen...

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi Shannon, Navigating the healthcare system can be so exhausting. I'm delighted that everyone agrees that you do not have MS. I'm also taking Lyrica, and sometimes it just takes time for it to help calm irritated nerves; I don't know where I would be without it. I went off it for 4 months, and I wa...

PGAD - radio episode

Pelvic Messenger blogtalk radio just aired a 90 minute episode on PGAD. Dr. Robert Echenberg was interviewed. Many of the associated conditions are discussed, as well as possible treatments, and leads to find a healthcare provider in your area. I found it worth listening. Here is the link: http://ww...

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Medication like neurontin or lyrica can help calm down an irritated pudendal nerve that travels to the genitals and the bladder. Nerve blocks and pelvic floor physical therapy helped me as well. There are two support groups besides this one where members can post their questions: http://www.psas-sup...

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi Debra, I am sorry that you have had this disorder since childhood and even with medical treatments, not much progress has been made. I spoke with a gynaecologist who also believes that the urethra is an important component in chronic pelvic pain of various natures. It was not clear to me, but to ...

PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi Lucy, I am sorry to hear that you are suffering so much from PGAD. With all the things you have tried, it sure shows that you want to get better and you really want to be there for your family. My PGAD started 4 years ago, but I have been symptom-free for over 2 years as long as I stick to my tre...
