Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi dkess, Sorry that you have been through so much. Emotionally this is a very tough disorder to have - when it started, I didn't know who I could talk to, but luckily I had an understanding GP who looked for a specialist who had treated it before. It took her a year to find one, but her treatments ...

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi Jenny,
I also have a list of Canadian providers who have helped patients. It might not be necessary for you to go to the US. I shall send you a private message. Just look above where it says User Control Panel and you should see 1 message next to it.

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Jenny,
I have several contacts throughout the US - doctors, physiotherapists who have treated PGAD with success. Could you share close to which major cities do you live? Would you be willing to travel anywheres in the US?

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

That is wonderful news Happs! A 50% reduction in PGAD symptoms allows one to do so many more things. Hope that your progress continues as you fully heal from the surgery.
Can you share who did your surgery, and which other specialists you saw that you would recommend?

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi Jenny Lyrica has been of tremendous help to me. It is helping calm my irritated pudendal nerve. I have been on it steadily for over a year and that with the rest of my treatment is keeping my symptoms under control - my doctor did 3 nerve blocks which helped break an acute pattern. When I went of...

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

HI DES, Glad you got in to see Dr. G. He has a good reputation and explained to my doctor that in most cases some type of pudendal pain was involved. Being knowledgeable in neurology, he might prescribe something to calm an irritated pudendal nerve. In Ontario as in most provinces, physical therapy ...

Re: has anyone been cured by pt?

My pelvic floor physiotherapy has greatly relieved my symptoms (along with medication). For anal sphincter spasms, my PT found that dry needling these muscles is what provided me the best relief, and I was able to be butt pain-free longer with that treatment. At the beginning, I required it more oft...

Re: Toe spreading ability in men with chronic pelvic pain sy

This article reminded me of a presentation made by Dr. Jerome Weiss on pudendal neuralgia at the 2010 International Continence Society & International Urogynecological Association. He explained his work on patients with Morton's toe (big toe is shorter than the next toe) and the trigger points t...

Re: PGAD - persistent genital arousal disorder

Hi Crystalline, I had great results with unguided nerve blocks to the pudendal and sacral nerves (done by a urogynecologist). This doctor was good at finding the exact areas where she needed to inject; also by doing the sacral nerves first, it helped me relax as she prepared to do the pudendal nerve...
