Re: am I the only one in the world with these symptoms?
Hi little mo! Sorry not to have offered support earlier, I somehow missed this thread. Anyhow, I can't add anything to Calluna's wonderfully comprehensive advice, just wanted to say that as far as I understand it MRN's - apart from being more expensive than MRI's - are for imaging nerves and blood ...

A week on, and with lots of rest and no lifting of ANYTHING I am now this last day or so able to walk upstairs like a true member of homo sapiens instead of a quadruped, but have to go one step at a time. That Groupon voucher has got me an osteopath appointment for tomorrow in London (round the cor...

Re: New and scared
It's probably a prime requisite on this forum to be nuts from time to time  No, I didnt mean time off work till your symptoms go, I meant take time off for your depression, till your emotional state settles down a bit and you're not so tired and easily upset. Anyhow, will send you a PM later r...

Re: New and scared
Hey, Busy Bee, that's brilliant. You've done really well today, sometimes (well, often actually  ) the only way to move forward is to be persistent though not rude (hard though that is sometimes!). Yes, they sent me to my local hospital pain clinic too, but when I got there and told them I'd ...

Re: SIJD & Pudendal Neuralgia - Next Step?
Hi Rich, I'm also investigating the possibility that I have SIJD and am waiting for urgent physio. As my PN started first with sacral pain, followed by extreme muscle tightness in lumbar, pelvis and upper legs, and then positional pain on sitting, I'm convinced that if I can get the SIJD sorted, the...

Re: New and scared
Hi Buzzy Bee, welcome to the forum. I can't answer for all of your symptoms, and I'm sure others on the forum will step in, but here goes. Your hip pain could possibly be a hip labral tear and your pounding the pavement every day has either caused it or worsened an existing tear. If you've had infe...

Re: propanolol and other meds for central sensitization
the autonomic aka sympathetic (fight or flight) nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system are supposed to be in balance, but in chronic pain the autonomic / sympathetic system is constantly in overdrive Hi, HerMaj. Exactly the same thing happens when under stress, ie panic attacks, wher...

Re: Can PN cause SIJD?
And I meant to add, not everyone with PN would necessarily have SIJD, if their pn wasnt mechanically based by joint instability or muscle spasm. What do you think?

Re: Can PN cause SIJD?
...how do myofascial trigger points in the levator ani or obturator internus cause the SI joint to have dysfunction? If that were the case then it seems like everyone with PN would have SIJD. Any thoughts? My guess is that triggerpoints in those muscles cause a knock-on effect in the sacral ligamen...

Re: Pudendal nerve flare
Paulette, my pn pain is worse when I bend too. I can personally confirm that a less tight piriformis means less irritation when I bend and more sitting time before I have to stand up. I work on the piriformis with TP massage, which helps me quite a bit. I have a great deal of muscular tightness in ...
