Choices, choices...now what?

I recently had a pudendal nerve block with lidocaine that gave me great relief for 6 hours and therefore my doctor believes I do have pudendal neuralgia or possible PNE. He has suggested that I consider 3 treatments for pudendal neuralgia: radiofrequency ablation, pudendal nerve stimulation and/or s...

Re: Before I see a pain specialist...

Thanks for your reply, Helen. I guess I'm a little nervous because I'm not sure what to decide if the pain specialist mentions trying nerve blocks. When I posted on this forum back in November 2010 that my urologist was trying lidocaine, some people responded that it might not be such a good idea to...

Before I see a pain specialist...

I have no actual diagnosis of PN or PNE but I haven't been able to sit without a burning, stinging sensation near my right "sit bone" for over a year now, following bladder surgery. I have an appointment to see Dr. Hibner this August. Meanwhile, before I got the appt w/ Dr. H., I made an a...

Re: Have you had a doctor suggest this?!

I've been doing a lot of reading on the site today and I'm really torn as to what to do. It sounds as if Dr. Potter in NY and possibly a radiologist named Dr Kalinkin in Phoenix who is associated with Dr Hibner are just about the only people in the US who can read 3-T MRIs accurately for PNE. One th...

Re: Have you had a doctor suggest this?!

Thanks, Karyn. I agree that I need to find out exactly where the problem is first! My urologist was trying to help but I realize that she doesn't have a lot of knowledge about PN or PNE. I've seen a lot of talk about 3T MRI's on this site and I did some checking on the website for our local imaging ...

Have you had a doctor suggest this?!

I've spent almost a year sitting on cold packs because of nerve pain that is near my right side "sitting bone"...not actually in the vulva area but close to it. Myofascial release didn't work and a pelvic MRI showed nothing. (I realize now that MRI's usually don't.) Recently my urologist -...

Re: Is this PN or PNE?

Thank you, Violet - I've looked at some threads and find the info about 3-T MRIs very interesting...I didn't know there was such a test. I see there is also a dr. in Arizona (Dr. Kalinkin who works with Dr. Hibner) who does 3-T MRIs. Arizona is a lot closer to me than NY so I might investigate that....

Re: Is this PN or PNE?

Yes! It is between the sit bone and the vulvar area...within a couple of inches of the vulvar area. I saw a pelvic floor PT who did myofascial release. She was able to get my pelvic floor completely released but the pain continues. My gyn. suspects PNE. I had a pelvic MRI that showed nothing. I will...

Is this PN or PNE?

For ten months following bladder surgery, I've had a burning/stinging sensation in my right "butt cheek" whenever I sit. Can this be PN or PNE? Some of what I read on this forum makes it sound as if PN or PNE pain is usually directly in the vulva area, which mine is not.

Re: Does Dr. Filler accept insurance?

I thought I wanted to see Dr. Filler until I read this forum! I am undiagnosed as yet but have had 8 months of burning, stinging sensation near my right "sitting bone" following bladder surgery. I'll be gettng a referral for an MRN soon from my gynecologist. But I have no PNE doctor to sho...
