Re: Post surgery update

We made it to our destination, but I am afraid I sat for too long in the car. I did lay down for a few hours, but I think I may have really hurt myself by sitting in the front. I was almost in tears by the time we got here. Normally I would be so excited because I love the beach, but I just wanted t...

Re: Post surgery update

Thanks nyt, I am trying a lot of the same things. I agree that distractions help. I tried that today on a very long trip in the car. We have an SUV and I laid in the back for part of the day and watched a movie, but I started getting sick when we were going through the mountains, so I sat in the fro...

Post surgery update

Just wanted to update everyone on my recovery from TG surgery. It's been a little over 3 months since my surgery. The only consistency in my recovery is the inconsistency. It is TRULY a roller coaster as everyone has said.......good some days, very bad the next. It is also true that at the 3 month p...

Hoping for pain free days for everyone in the New Year!

I want to thank all of you who have encouraged and supported those of us who are recovering from surgery or are just struggling with PN and PNE. This support site has been invaluable. The early days of confusion of what to do and where to turn can be so scary...and because our friends and family can...

Re: Exercises after surgery

Thanks Violet. I have tried the hot/cold water with my showers.....I let the water just beat down on the incision and the area around it. It does seem to help. Most of my pain is still the gluteal fold area. I am trying to take it easy, but I think I overdid it the past few days and I am really suff...

Re: Exercises after surgery

Thanks Janet. Your words were much needed. Thanks for your wisdom. It is so hard for those of us who are healing from this surgery. I know it is early. I guess I was hoping I could just jump off the operating table and get back to life :) I am SO sorry you lost your brother. I know you cherish those...

Re: Exercises after surgery

Thanks Violet..... I tried to message you a couple of days ago, but I guess it didn't go through. I am having a hard time and I was writing to get your advice. My surgery was 11 weeks ago and I am having that increase in pain that everyone seems to go through. I remember you saying you second guesse...

Re: Exercises after surgery

Thanks nyt. I have been very careful not to stretch the surgical side. It is VERY hard to take things slowly, but I am trying to listen to my body and take my cues from that. My husband is on a big health kick and I just have to WATCH him go up and down the basement steps 50 times for his cardio wor...

Re: Exercises after surgery

Janet,
I found it. Thanks. That helps. I guess the guidelines vary from doctor to doctor, but it gives me something to go on.

Re: Exercises after surgery

Hi nyt, I have not started back with my PT. I went for two years before the surgery....so I have used all the insurance benefits for the year. I was self pay for several months before the surgery, so I think I will have to wait until next year to start again. Prof Aszmann did my surgery, but I haven...
