Exercises after surgery

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows of some gentle exercises to do after TG surgery. I have been doing gliding exercises, but I would like to progress to other ones. It has been about 10 weeks since my surgery. I am doing ok. I still have a lot of tenderness and soreness in the incision ...

Re: Just returned from surgery with Prof. Aszmann

Hi Violet, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I thought the water walking might not be a good idea. I had to quit anyway because I have a torn meniscus and it caused that pain to flare. You always give me hope that I am going to beat all these issues. So your SI joint was also hypermobile. Can you do prolo...

Re: Just returned from surgery with Prof. Aszmann

Hello everyone, I am 9 weeks out from my surgery and I would like to update everyone on my recovery and ask some questions to see if anyone might be able to give me some advice. My nerve pain is much better, but I still have a lot of incisional pain and soreness and I am still numb down the back of ...

Re: Just returned from surgery with Prof. Aszmann

I wanted to add something to my last post. I am still very tender and sore at the incision site and some days are better than others as far as pain levels, so I didn't want people reading the last post think I am ready to run a marathon. The good news is the pain is better than before the surgery, a...

Re: Just returned from surgery with Prof. Aszmann

Yes, and he did a great job. The scar is barely noticeable. It just looks like a scratch and it has only been three weeks. If you read my other posts, I went for the anterior approach, but once I was there, he really didn't think the dorsal nerve was the main pain generator, based on where my pain w...

Re: Just returned from surgery with Prof. Aszmann

Violet, I am at my three week mark and I seem to continue to struggle with energy level. I also wanted to ask if you remember whether you had nerve cross talk in the beginning of your recovery. My surgical side is not as numb, which means I hurt more and I am also feeling sciatic like symptoms on th...

Re: Just returned from surgery with Prof. Aszmann

Hi Violet, Yes, it was a bit of a shock that I ended up having the transgluteal approach when I thought I was having the anterior approach. He did see the scar tissue around the nerve on my Potter MRI and he toyed with doing an anterior approach and the posterior approach, but when he examined me, h...

Just returned from surgery with Prof. Aszmann

Just wanted to let everyone know what a wonderful surgeon Prof/Dr. Aszmann is, as well as an extremely nice man. My surgery was the 19th of Sept. I was in Vienna until the 26th. It was a hard trip home as I was unable to recline on any flight, so I am very sore and my incision is still very tender, ...

Re: What to do...what to do...what to do!

Konedog, Thanks for your suggestion of shockwave therapy. I did look at that and I thought about that seriously. I saw in a post that it does not work as well for surgical scar tissue that is entrapping the nerve.... Which mine is. Do you know if that is true? I am so happy that it is helping you an...

Re: What to do...what to do...what to do!

Hello Calluna, So glad to hear from you and so happy you are continuing to do well on your current meds. I am still taking gabapentin (1,800 mg.) and tramadol and sometimes they do the trick, but most of the time they do not. Yesterday was a good day, but today is very bad and I still cannot sit for...
