On second thought, I decided to delete these stickies in the MRI/MRN section because that forum is publicly viewable. I think it is best if you post personal results or reports in the case update section because it is not publicly viewable.

Thanks mod3, appreciate it!
pelvic pain started 1985 age 14 interstitial cystitis. Refused medical care from age 17, did GREAT with self care for years.
2004 PN started gradually, disabled by 2009. Underlying cause SIJD & Tarlov cysts
improved with PT & meds: neurontin, valium, nortriptyline, propanolol. (off nortriptyline & propanolol now, yay!)
Tarlov cyst surgery with Dr. Frank Feigenbaum March 20, 2012.
Results have been excellent so far; but I won't know my final functional level for a couple of years.

Maybe we could have a sub-forum for discussion about doctors. I just posted a question about Dr. Hibner and wasn't sure which section to put it in.

Thanks,

Emily B.

I've tried using the "search" and no matter what word I put in there, it says, "The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words..." etc. For example, I typed in the word Hibner and the same answer came up.

Is the search function working? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Emily,
If you click on the "USA" heading, there is a subheading for each Doc - Hibner is 1st on the list.
Yes that "too common" is annoying when you look for Dr. Info - if possible can that setting be changed?

Hi All...

Indeed...the search setting was not as it should be .
It works with a strange algoritm that defines that if a word is in more as 3% of the posts it is 'common' and you cannot search on that .
As with Hibner that is of course not as it was meant , so I reindexed it to far fewer occurences .
As a result I think it works ok now .
However now you have to see yourself that the words you put into the search box are unique enough but that is something everyone is accustomed to I think ..

Good point ...you know ..you can always pm me about such tech stuff .

Bicyclist / IT guy / sitting allot
Then pain -- but only when sitting--
took me 3 years - nerve blocks etc to find out that it really was the surface of a chair that could help.. Now . After 5 years doing well -- on a special chair - special recumbent bike- special car - but ..almost without pain !!

I totally agree that we should really make an effort to be cordial even when arguing. However when we have people like the snake oil vendor the other day that tried to make us all believe he was a MD (by omission) ans was horribly patronizing, I think to rebuff such individual is warranted and healthy.

LOL ezer, that one was fun, he bailed just when it was getting ultrea-fun!
But I kind of like the ICN policy better, which is posts made solely for the purpose of commercial advertising are deleted. I was telling Charlie in a PM, our nonprofit has been paying for various ads & trade show spots lately and that stuff is $$ EXPENSIVE $$. So, you will always have businesses try to exploit a patient support site for free advertising. I am of the mind that they should be booted. Maybe not rudely, but advised by the Mods that if they really have some great new treatment they are welcome to submit the information to HOPE for review and it will be posted as deemed appropriate on the "Find a Dr.", or "Find a PT" page, etc. As far as actual PNE petients, I think we should refrain as much as possible from bickering amongst ourselves ;)
