As a PN person and a teacher I was wondering if you all think God could have handed us this cross to save the next generation? The people I'm talking to here all seem like fighters and I feel like we are here to pave the way for those that come after us so that they will not have to deal with as many idiot docs as we all have. That is why I think God handed it to me. He knew I could handle it.
My boyfriend told me that God sent me to him because God knew he could handle this fight as well.
I'm proud to educate the docs that told me PN did not exist because the nerve is buried in there and can't get hurt.
Why do you all think you are dealing with this condition? It may be different for most of you since there is a reason for the PN most of you have (weight lifting, cycling, birth or some other trauma).
I'm just wondering how you all feel about the hand you were dealt.
Kathy

Re: Are we hear to save the next generation?
I count each day with PN as a success. That's one day closer to more successful treatments, one more day of education or experience for doctors, and one more day I've proven to myself I CAN handle this and live with this.
I've asked God why many times. Why did this have to happen to me? Why did He allow this to happen to me as a young, childless newlywed with so much life left to live? Why does my family have to be burdened by this? I don't have the answers.
As a teacher, I definitely think about future generations, too.
This is my burden to bear, and I cannot deny that. But I CAN fight like hell to find successful treatment

Re: Are we hear to save the next generation?
Kathy,
I absolutely believe that we are here to help the next generation. Where would we be without those people strong enough to try new drugs to help deal with diabetes or strong enough to try open heart surgery with Dr. Barnard? We were given PN because we are strong and able to cope. Most of us at least. Some people weren't strong enough and were called home. We all have to remember them and know that we are being pioneers for them too.

We are fighting for awareness, fighting the Doc's, ans fighting this affliction!!!!! WE WILL WIN
God is in control, and he uses what the enemy meant for destruction for HIS good and HIS glory!

Re: Are we hear to save the next generation?
Kathy, I think perhaps we are here for the next generation. I used to think I was the only one and it was so painful to feel that way.
I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Re: Are we hear to save the next generation?
Sunil,
I don't beleive God "hands out " any kind of suffering. The bible states" in this world you WILL have trouble, but take heart I have overcome the world" The Bible also states "pick up your cross and follow me" so if this (PN) is your cross or your burden or your trouble than you are to carry it.
When Jesus was crucified, he had to carry his own cross. On the way to that hill side a crowd followed and assembled to watch what would happen. Jesus carried his cross, and even asked his father to remove this cup from him IF it be HIS will. But God did not remove it. Jesus suffered and he suffered with humilty and grace in front of a multitude of people saying exactly the sames things we see people write here" what kind of God lets you be beat and have your flesh torn?" " where is your God now Jesus, why don't you have him come get you off that cross?" or "what kind of God allows someone to suffer the way we do?"
But God didn't remove the burden of carrying that cross from Jesus b/c through Jesus suffering God had drawn eyes unto him! Think of all the people standing watching the crucifiction, they stayed for days to watch him suffer and eventually commit his spirit to heaven. Jesus carried that "cross" b/c he knew that when those who had been drawn in saw what would happen they would be saved. They would know that GOD was GOD!
Who's eyes are being drawn in to watch your suffering? God did not put it on you, but he can use it for his Glory. Is it fair? NO! BUt where are told it would be easy. We are promised, that we will have trouble, but will we allow God the opportunity to use our trouble, and our "cross" as a way to draw eyes unto him so he can show himself mighty.? Or will we just take for granted that this is the here and now these are cards I have been dealt and " I can't beleive any God would do this" If you beleive the Bible and I am not assuming all in this spiritual section do, but if you do than you know that God gave Satan the keys to this earth, Yes I know sounds crazy, but God allows Satan to have free reign here. He tells us that we can CHOOSE to walk in our authority through him. So if you want to overcome the on ewho is wreaking havoc in his world, the prince of darkness, then we need to start opening our mouths and declare that we are greater b/c of HE who is IN us, and TAKE back what the enemy has tried to steal from you! Sometimes the miracle is for us but most of the time it is for the salvation of those who have been watching us so that they will beleive!
Many before may have decided to suffer in silent, or end their suffering.....but it is b/c of these, willing to talk, shout, and fight for PNE to come into the light that the ones coming behind will benefit and have less suffering, and more information. You are paving the way if you CHOOSE to. You are helping the next generation. My 7 year old is the next generation. And had this site not been here, had the voices been silenced my daughter would be on anti- depresents. Told she was imagining her pain, and in therapy, being told to ignore the "voices" in her head that are telling her to itch!
SO I say THANK YOU
THANK YOU
For having the courage and the fight to talk, post, and share in your suffering. We all know that once corrected, or healed many never visit this site again......So for me, the fact taht KAT and Pianogal that were still looking and they are the only two who had childhood PNE and I the mother of a child suffering looking for answers, found each other is not that God put suffering on anyone, but that he allowed ot for the benefit of another.
So Sunil, back to what took me a LOOOOOOONG way to say. God is a loving compassionate God and HE does not put suffering on you at all but he will take your sufferign and make something wonderful out of it that will benefit others IF we let him
