Internak PT?

Post by christi »

I've had PN for two years now, and have tried many things--from acupuncture to steroid shots. I'm only now getting around to PT in which the therapist works directly on trigger points in the pelvic floor. It would really helpful to hear others' experience of this kind of work. Does it help? Does it harm?

Thanks in advance!!

I'm having pretty good luck with PT using the Wise-Anderson protocol. Not a quick fix by any means but if you stick to it I firmly believe it can work especially if the PT finds that the tissue and muscles are tense and hard. Do you have a problem with flexing/tensing your pelvic floor muscle?

Christi, I could not tolerate internal PT prior to surgery. It just wasn't worth it to have a flare-up for a week afterward but it does help some people so it's worth a try. You will know fairly soon whether it's going to help you or not. Good luck!

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
