A very pleasant turn of events for me. I have been walking each night no matter what the weather here in MN. The walks seem to help. As I walk, I pray to the Great Physician for healing and strength. Anyway, for the past two nights, I have felt stronger and I began to run, very slowly, but a definite run. I'd run 80 steps and walk, then run, and then walk. I am slowly increasing the running component. Anyway, the first time I ran, I noticed some perineum tightness, so I backed off immediately. Last night, I was able to run longer distances with no perineal discomfort. Today, I had as close to a "normal" day as I have had in one year. I had no pain, no tingling, no spasms, nothing! Talk about wonderful. I swam a hard workout tonight and even did some light breaststroke with no pain and no tightness. Tonight I am going out again to walk, despite the below zero windchill and see if I can manage again a bit of running and walking. I am going to be doing a lot of praising the Lord for today's blessings.

That's great that you are feeling better, Jim! I usually walk at night also because I work during the day and I have to dress pretty warm but I'm sure it's not as cold down here where I live as it is in good 'ole Minnesota. I grew up next door in Wisconsin so I know what you are talking about and I don't think I would be as brave as you.
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Jim, that is wonderful that you are doing better. I do believe that our bodies are meant to move even though we have things that are not working properly. I am soooo happy for you. It just feels wonderful to have no pain does it not? Just dont do what I usually do and overdue it :)
I have my self been adding some strength workouts for hamstrings and upper body and abs along with Beths very specific exercises. Nothing like I used to do but its a start.
Continue on the same path...

Today I had my 4th gluteal injection with methylprednisone and local anesthetic with Dr. Stanley Antolak. I had no pain and very few symptoms going into this injection, but wanted to complete the series to see if the minor annoying rectal symptoms could be treated. Both injections were mildly painful. The anesthetic is now wearing off, 9 hours after the procedure. I have the usual glute soreness and soreness in the perineum area too. In past injections, I have had about 3-4 days of mild pain, and this is due to the trauma of the injection. I usually take it easy after these injections, as I do not want to inflame ligaments or nerves after possible trauma. I will write more as the days go on.

Jim/Rita,

I'm glad to hear you are both doing so much better. Wow if I could ever run again it would be a miracle! Or do any strength training or conditioning for that matter. I used to do marathons as well as weights and I miss it like crazy.

I also have been feeling quite a bit better after my second injection. I am not a mess at the end of the day like I usually am and I can tolerate a little sitting - 5 min or so, where as two weeks ago I could not sit for 10 seconds. I am really looking forward to my third injection and I'll probably opt for a fourth as you did, Jim. I still think I'll miss the family vacation to FL in 6 weeks as I don't think I could ride in a plane but life must go on for my hubbie and kids.

I have started seeing Beth as well. She was extremely thorough and showed me how I could do a little Obturator Internus internal trigger point work myself. I'm anxious for my second visit next week.

I look forward to checking in soon to see how you're doing.

Jim - also wondering if I should check out your church as their prayers seem to be working for you!

Hey MN MOM, I hope that you continue to do better as you continue to see Beth. It takes time and I know I get impatient with it all.It is too bad that you cannot go to Florida with our family. Those are the things that make all of this depressing.I got real frustrated yesterday. Its always a few steps forward and then some back. I was out to see our son play in a his band saturday night and danced. Sunday I was hurting but it was worth it for my sanity. Yesterday I was still hurting and just felt like giving up but I know I cannot. This is my new normal!!!!!! I hear you about wanting to run and do exercises. That too was a huge part of my life. Today I woke up and feel good from the weekend. I see Beth tomorrow. I wish it was not going to take me so long to get better but we all need patience. MN MOM check out that website I had mentioned in an earlier post.....its lisabeachy.com. Maybe that would assist you on some spiritual level. Praying can be done anywhere anytime. The shower is my place to do that :) Hang ihere!
Take Care,
Peace,

Rita,
Sorry to hear you were hurting this weekend but it sounds like you had fun nonetheless! I hope your appt went well today. I had a setback yesterday and am still feeling pretty rotten today. I am looking forward to seeing Beth next week to talk things over with her. 1 hour for a PT appt is really not enough when there is so much to go over.
Take care,
MNMom
