Update, I am still waiting on the referrals for an MRI, nerve blocks and PT here in Tucson. Hopefully Tricare will approve everything. Also I got a special order in for some Lyrica that I will get through Tricare channels. I am up to 900MGS 3 times day on the Gabapentin and it has seemed to modulate the pain. I also got my company to get me a thigh chair and it is helping also. More information to follow.

thanks

Got my nerve blocks scheduled in August. It seems there is a long waiting period. The pelvic MRI should come sooner I hope. At least I am making progress with this mess.

Have you got Lyrica yet then Biff? If so is it having any better effect than gabapentin for you? Well done with the progress so far. It's almost a full time job isn't it!! :)
Take care,
Helen

Jim, good luck with your PT. Keep us posted on how it goes. Is this team specifically trained to treat PN?
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Violet, yes this team is trained on the specific areas that need t be looked at for PT. The PT specialist in Dr. Hibner's office recommended Dianna Fasset and her team which are connected to the University of AZ. So I am really encouraged for this PT.

Well it seems TRICARE referred me to the wrong PT specialist and I am not sure they work on the pelvic floor. I need to work on this issue. Also if my 2700 MGS gabapentin was working should I even bother switching to lyrica? Any thoughts?

I guess that depends on side effects from gabapentin. Lyrica is a more 'refined' form of the same drug so usually has less side effects and gives sometimes better results at a lower dose.
Personally, if it is on offer, and has no impact on your insurance (British, so not 100% sure how it works for you) I would try it. You can always switch back to gabapentin.
Sorry the specialist was the wrong one, could you give them the list from the home pages and see if they can work with that?
Take care,
Helen

Helen, I was able to get TRICARE to switch to the PT that Dr. C originally recommended. Also I am going to stick with the Lyrica for now and see how it goes. Hopefully I will not gain to much weight on it..lol! Thanks for the advice Helen and my nerve block is scheduled for August due to back log.
