Question about type of steroid used

Post by Rosemary »

When i had an unguided transvaginal nerve block done last september the corticosteroid used was DepoMedrone - active ingredient methylprednisolone.

Kenalog is mentioned on here but i have not read of Depomedrone use.

This block didn't work for me - as i am not much better either i am now questioning the steroid used.

Grateful for any thoughts.

Rosemary, this article has a discussion of the different steroids used in epidurals. You can take the information and extrapolate it to pudendal nerve blocks.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

For me I deal with lots of inflammation. The steroid stopped some serious spasming for me. I am glad I have a steroid block coming up soon, I need it! This being said, my nerve seemed more irritated with a steroid block. So, there is good and bad to it I suppose.
