I am a 67 year old male who has been diagnosed with pre-diabetes for several years now. In trying to evade diabetes in the last couple of months,I have incorporated a no sugar low carb diet and have been strenuously biking and lifting weight on a daily basis. Several weeks back I noticed a periodic sensation like a belt buckle pressing against the skin of my upper pelvis, but no buckle. I have periodic pain, like a side ache running down left pelvis to my groin. Sometimes a slight quick pain in my urethral opening. Maybe a tinge of numbness in upper groin, though all feeling is there. Sometimes a slight warm sensation in penis. Sounds like symptoms of PN, PNE. And possibly unrelated to all this, I have lost 40 pounds since January, which I think is more than a fair amount is unexplained. Pants and shorts won’t stay up and significant atrophy in gluteus maximus. Butt loss has me sitting on tailbone. My GP is testing for what is going on here. Does PN/PNE cause weight loss and muscle atrophy? So I have excessive biking and weight lifting to blame and pre-diabetes? Looked up doctors in US. Very discouraging. The ones closest to me do not accept insurance. I’m wondering if PT might be my first option? The pain I’m having is only a distraction now, but does it progressively get worse? I feel like I’m on the gates of purgatory.
