I got PN over time simply by sitting on a hard chair putting pressure on my tailbone. Difficult to believe that something so minor could ruin my life. The pain is bad enough that I don't leave the house except for doctors appointments. My pelvic PT has me laying down on the floor with my legs on the couch while using a Thera cane and wand to massage myself, which seems to be really helping. I have been in pain for about 6 months. The medications have caused ringing in my ears non stop. I feel like I have some hope as PT makes me feel better temporarily, and as I learn the massage techniques I can just do them myself at home.
I feel awful for my wife, as all family responsibilities are on her to handle, and my teenage daughters are being difficult. I want to be able to contribute to my family and society, it seems a long way off.

Re: Just got my PN diagnosis
Hi,
I am sorry you have found yourself with this pain. I am a big believer that a small thing, like sitting a lot can be a trigger for PN pain, but that there is almost always an underlying issue that has been asymptomatic up until that point. It is great news that PT is helping. I developed ringing in my ears from meds for this too. How long do you have relief after PT? Do you feel like over time you are getting better and holding onto those improvements between appointments or are your starting from square one each visit?

PN started 2004 from fall. Surgery with Filler Nov. 2006, Dr. Campbell April 2007. Pain decreased by 85% in 2008 (rectal and sitting pain resolved completely), pain returned in 12/13. Pain reduced significantly beginning around 11/23.

Re: Just got my PN diagnosis
I have a bulging disc at l5.s1 so I didn't understand my pain for a long time as the pelvic nerves are so close to s1. I have only done pt for 2 weeks. I felt good for 8 hours after my last session. I have had no big flare ups since I started to understand my pain, and figure out my pain triggers. Progress is slow enough that I can't see it short term, but I am better than I was a month ago. I was just so tight in my core and pelvis to protect my back, so relaxing my kegels and pelvis is helping me.
