Hi, I had an electromyography and the results were normal, no sciatic nerve damage or back damage.
The doctor suspected lower cluneal or pudendal nerve damage and recommended pelvic CT scan, bone scan to check for sacroiliitis.
Is a CT scan really helpful in this case? If it is the cluneal nerve, would it be more consistent with my symptoms and easier to treat than pudendal neuralgia? Thanks.

Re: About pelvic CT scan
I haven't heard of CT scan being used to determine if you have pudendal nerve entrapment. Hollis Potter, a well-known radiologist in New York City has developed a protocol for a pelvic MRI that enhances the image of the pelvic nerves, including the pudendal nerve, and may show if there is an entrapment. The advantage of an MRI is there is no radiation involved so maybe you want to ask your doctor about that.
I don’t know much about the success rate of inferior cluneal nerve release surgery. There is an interesting article on the topic of having both the pudendal nerve and the inferior cluneal nerve released at the same time. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 5024001523
What are your symptoms? There can be some overlap in the symptoms of pudendal neuralgia and inferior cluneal neuralgia, specifically in the perineal area.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
