I have an appointment about PRF on October 14th. I will let everyone know how it turns out. I think folks should note their use of the word ablation, as this is the incorrect term to use with "pulsed" RF, since the nerve is not being damaged. Furthermore, my wife who is an anesthesiology resident, who will be starting a pain fellowship soon, is applying for a grant to do a study on PRF of PN/PNE.
PN started in June 2009, quickly pain level went to 10. PN probably caused from long hours sitting in car, followed by weightlifting/sports daily. My pain level are now daily between 1 and 4. I do not know if I have true entrapment, but definitely know I have neuralgia of the PN.

Yay! And please let us know how your treatment goes.
Athlete until pain started in 2001. Diagnosed with PN in Nov. 2010. Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). Pelvic pain life coach Lorraine Faendrich helped me overcome the mind/body connection to chronic pain: http://www.radiantlifedesign.com

Oh wow! This is great news about your wife doing a study on PRF! There isn't much published literature on this yet.

Good luck with your appointment. ;)
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

My pain doc wants to try pulsed radio frequency on me. He is a general pain doc, not a pudendal specialist. I am afraid that the procedure will make the pain worse. If I knew for certain it would not backfire and causing MORE pain, I would gladly go through the procedure for the chance that it might help. I have read the article about the 1 lady it supposedly helped and read comments here from someone who tried it, but it caused a horrible flare-up. I have had that happen with some of the things I tried. Anyone else try pulsed radio freuquency recently? How did it turn out???

Searching....

pain began in Sept 08 after someone was very rough w me
direct trigger point injections into labia
physical therapy w laser (caused a HUGE pain flare up)
2 ganglion impars
3 pudendal blocks (numb for a few hours afterward but no lasting pain relief)
gabapentin/lyrica/cymbalta
no relief from anything
pain started focally in labia only but has spread throughout entire pelvis
