Just wondering - this wasn't a Bartholin's cyst, by any chance? This can be very painful, especially if it becomes an abscess.

Ultra Sound in 03/08 showed severely retroverted, detaching uterus with mulitple fibroids and ovarian cysts.
Pressure and pain in lower abdomen and groin area was unspeakable and devastating.
Total lap hysterectomy in 06/08, but damage was already done.
EMG testing in NH in 04/10 - bilateral PN and Ilioinguals
3T MRI at HSS, NY in 09/10
Bilateral TG surgery with Dr. Conway on 03/29/11. Bilat ilioinguinal & iliohypogastric neurectomy 03/12. TCD surgery 04/14.

I once got one and it was after a weekend car trip and it was a little sebacious cyst and it too hurt like a bitch. It was right in the spot where I would fold my leg and sit on it to keep me from fully sitting and I figured out that I probably irritated that spot from sitting like that with my leg folded. I did do a hot compress and it went away immediately and did not come back. It certainly caused a flare too. Now, I'm real careful about how I guard myself sitting and often catch myself wanting to sit in the same position that caused it.

Onset PN/PFD/centralized pain in Oct 06 after years of athletics,nursing career and dog training. PT for two years with improvement, now go for tune-ups and pain management. Stopped Cymbalta, was on M.S. Contin, then Kadian, and briefly Methadone for pain management, now off those meds and pain is well managed with Buprenorphine. Followed my pain management specialist.

I had it one time. It is very painful. The gyno said to put OTC bacterial cream on it. Took about two weeks to slowly absorb into the body and was gone. Has not returned. Most likely infections of the sweat glands, similar to acne.

All lumps, bumps or pimples on the vulva should be checked out by your Gyn. Don't want to scare anyone but I know of a lady who complained for many years to her GP and also her Gyn about this sort of lumpy pimple bothering her. She was told it was harmless but years later it turned out to be an HPV related cancer. That woman is a cancer survivor and started up the information and support group called GAIN Inc. 2004 PNE following vag. hysterectomy and A & P repair. 2007 TIR surgery France. severe entrapment at Alcocks canal & SS ligaments . Have my life back. 90% cured.No longer have medical appts.or physio.Some pain remains but is tolerable. 2012 Flew from Australia to the UK without pain flare. Very manageable. Almost back to normal. Now hold support group meetings at KEMH Subiaco Perth WA. Every 2nd Sat. of the month. Still pace my activities. PN doesn't dominate any more.

Thank you Catherine for the reminder that of course every bump in the vulval region should be checked out by a doctor to ensure it is only a cyst etc and not something more serious.
When I had my cyst I did see my GP who excised it as best as he could but he did refer me to my Gynae after i took a course of antibiotics which thankfully managed the infection adequately so i did not need further treatment.

PNE started 2003 following Vaginal Hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair and right oophorectomy; eventually after many tests had BilateralTG surgery Nantes 2004; following this tried many other treatments including 7 day epidural, ketamin infusions to no avail; Trialed and was implanted with a Neurostimulator in 2007- Dr Van Buyten Belgium, this has enabled me to manage my pain much better.
