That's a really good idea. How do you get copies of your own records?

Faith, when I called Dr Hibner about a month ago, I was told that I had to have a referral from my doctor with a diagnosis. Nothing was said about getting my records faxed. It sounds like Dr Hibneris trying to make an effort to prescreen a little so that he doesn't see patients that he can't help.

As far as getting copies of your records, I think you can just ask your dr for them.

HI nyt;
Good for you. Our insurance board is going to be next on my list of phone calls. Everyone I talk to has a problem with UHN. My husband just got hearing aids and they are fighting that, after we've paid a years worth of premiums. I get at least 4 letters a week with " We're thinking about it ". We just shouldn't have to go thru that crap AND be in this much pain. They finally okayed my Botox on 11/2 and 11/4 we got a letter saying they're thinking about it :?: The hospital said to keep copies, which I do, so when they don't end up paying the 5 grand, at least I have a letter saying they will. It's really enough to make you take up drinking. I think I would if it wasn't for all the meds I'm on.
At any rate NYT, writing that on this board will help someone who hasn't run across the problems that we've had. Thank-you from me and all the others you just helped.

Faith,
Just ask any doctor for your records, they have to give it to you because of HIPPA. Some hospitals that are running out of money, ask you to pay for it. But then it HAS to be sent to you within 30 days.
