Much love

Good luck Alex and be sure to let us know what (if anything) they find in your hips.

Hi again guys and gals,
I just wanted to check with you all that there is no risk of damaging the pudendal nerve or making the neuralgia worse when having the arthogram of the hips. I really don’t want to take any risks adn I have read a couple of disturbing posts here recently.
Thanks,
Al

Alex,

The pudendal nerve (which runs from the sacrum to deep inside the buttocks and ending in the perineum) is nowhere near the location of the injection for the hip joint which is at the top of thigh so in my view there is no possible way that it can damage the nerve.

The reactions that two folks have had to various injections in the hip (one arthrogram, one cortisone shot) are likely muscular in nature and will subside over time. Most of us (Faith, Elmwood, Beverley, Griff, me) who have had hip injections have not experienced any exacerbation of pain.

Thanks Lernica. I'm one of those people who likes to triple check things, even if I fell that I already know the answer. I once made a mistake in not checking how many cortisone shots I could have (and yes, the doctor should have known better) and ended up with adrenal insuffency for six months (a real drag), so I tend to take care with each decision now.
much love
Al
