Helen,

When I was in Aand E with suspected Cauda Equina and they were rubbbing their hands at having to get their knives out, a friends dad told me that if i needed an op, I should find a neurosurgeon rather than an orthpaedic one.

Not entirely sure of the difference and wasn't quite sure how I arranged that in my predicament back then.

Today my bladder felt like someone was pressing a hot stone into it and I would gladly have had surgery. But if the guy had only done it once before I would be wary of letting someone experiment.

At the end of the day it is your body and your life circumstances, the surgeon goes home to sit down and enjoy a meal, sit and watch tv etc. That's the thought that went through my head as I told the neurologist how totally shit life was trying to live with these symptoms,.......he was sympathetic, but still got to drive home in comfort.
