To be honest, currently i don't need it at all: my ED has been total for one week now, even with Cialis... I'm starting to lose hope that my erectile ability will ever come back... Penis is numb as well. Are there actual cases of people with penile nerve damage who had severe ED/loss of sensation and then got back to normal as nerves healed? This is my only hope left.

I also just saw an osteopath specialized in the pelvic area and she was positive i don't have PN. She argued first that, if i had, i wouldn't be able to sit without feeling pain for a prolonged amount of time, which confuses me as i read several testimonies of people with PN who didn't have that symptom. Then she pressed on different locations of my perineum and found out that i don't have strong reaction when she touched what she said was the location of the pudendal nerve. Which confuses me too: isn't it possible that only the dorsal nerve of the penis is damaged, and not the branch innervating the perineum itself? That would make sense considering how it all started, and explain why it's not that painful on that location on the perineum - or am i missing something? She seems to be very competent but still that doesn't quite make sense to me. Any opinions on that?

Yes, it can just be one branch, the dorsal branch that is affected. It doesn't have to be the main trunk. What is the osteopathic doctor recommending?

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Hi,

Sorry to intrude on this thread but I thought I shared my situation, given that it is similar to that described by marcc.

I am also in my early 30s. Never had a problem with ED, loss of libido, or anything like that. One day I had an anxiety attack that was triggered by an article I had just read, and this terrible saga begun. I suddenly started feeling like there was an extraneous object between the scrotum and the perineum. Shortly after I started having weird sensation of slight burning and numbness on the penis (including a weird cold feeling, as the penis is colder than the rest of the body), which resulted in both slight ED and almost complete loss of libido.

Like most people on this forum, I saw a bunch of urologists: all tests (testosterone, DHT, bacterial, etc.) came back normal and did not evidence any problem. One of the urologists I saw acknowledged that my problem might be pelvic floor related and suggested I take viagra (which does work, although does not cure the libido problem) and possibly see a psychiatrist specializing in sex related issues (which I am not in principle opposed to).

These days, my libido is still very low. The numbness/coldness/slight burning/ED persists, and I still feel as my pelvic floor is perennially contracted. More in general, I feel most of my body is always tense, which I admit is exacerbated by my life-style (highly stressful job, long commute, long hours, etc.). As opposed to many people with PN, sitting or standing does not really make a difference for me nor exacerbates the symptoms.

Just wondering if you guys think this might be PN related, and whether you have any recommendations on how to approach the problem. I'm based in Southern California, so if you have any local recs, they would be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Rimad,

Welcome to the forum. Burning pain is one of the most common symptoms of pn, and I've read posts from men who had numbness. Most people with pn (although not me) have a marked increase in pain when they sit, so that part of your symptoms is unusual for pn. You said your muscles were tense. Have you seen a physical therapist? PTs who are experienced with pelvic floor problems are very good at addressing muscle-related pain. They can often relax the muscles with their treatments, and they can also be very helpful in the diagnostic process. I recommend contacting one of the doctors who treated you to see if they can refer you to a pelvic floor specialist pt who treats men. That person may be able to help you determine if it is pn-related and if so, what your next step should be, and you also may get some relief from the treatments.

Being in Southern California you could have an evaluation from Stephanie Prendergast. She is on this list: http://www.pudendalhope.info/node/63#CA
There are other good PT's in So Cal also.
