Yes, in my opinion it's very likely that your pudendal nerve was pinched, irritated, by a cyst or a herniated disc in the sacro-lumbar vertebrae, and this happens very often!

Very often it is in the sacro-lumbar vertebrae that there is a pinching (compression) of the pudendal nerve and also in the pelvic/genital/genital area.

Did you have a herniated disc or cyst in the dorsal spine / sacro-lumbar region ?

Is Dr Frédéric Potaux the orthopaedic surgeon and traumatologist in Nantes you're talking about? Yes, there are Pelvic and Pudendal nerve specialists in Nantes !

Hi Summer,

I had pudendal nerve entrapment at the location of the ischial spine in the pelvis, not in the spine or sacrum. You can see where that is on our anatomy page. Ihttps://www.pudendalhope.info/category/anatomy/
The ischial spine can be pressed on via the vagina during a pelvic exam - it is not a part of the spine in your back.

The doctor in Nantes who does pudendal nerve decompression surgery is Dr. Ploteau. You can do a search for what people have said about him on this forum if you go to the search bar in the upper right corner.

I read something and I don't know if it is true but I can't get it out of my head. It said that for the first 6 months your PGAD can go up and down. that you can also have days off. but after 6 months it will continue and you will not get any rest periods.

is this correct or is it nonsense?

Hi Lovepeps,

I've not heard that before. Do you remember where you read that? I would be reticent to make any predictions because I think each person has their own different experience. Some of our symptoms and course of illness might be similar but no two people are the same.

Love pop

I think your post last month may have come from the fact that early intervention in any illness is best and I think I too heard that the older the injury to the nerve, the less likely it is to heal
" organically" maybe thats what you are remembering.. my heart goes out to you. Sadie you will find answers I promise.

Hi Summer,

I think the conventional thinking about pn and the spine is that problems at S1 are too high to be an explanation for pn. (I have significant bulges and spinal stenosis but my lowest one is at S1, so doctors have dismissed this as an explanation for my pn.) But, a problem at S3 could be significant. You say you have hypoesthesia (i.e., numbness) there. What do the doctors think that is from? Are there any other issues at that level?
