I guess it would depend on how your doctor ordered it. Did they say to take it once a day or twice a day? If they said twice a day, then they would have ordered two pills a day.

If they ordered it once a day, are you thinking about splitting the pill in half or opening a capsule? I have been advised by a pharmacist that you can only safely split a pill if it is scored (has a line) in the middle because otherwise the medication may not be distributed evenly throughout the pill. Duloxetine is delayed release and if it is a capsule, which it usually is, you are not supposed to break it open or crush it. When I took duloxetine for a nerve issue in my knee after knee surgery, I think it was once a day, and it helped significantly.
The typical adult dose is 30 - 60 mg once a day for pain. It is best to start out at a low dose and work up if you need to.

Hope it helps relieve your pain.
