Ureteral Stents and Pyeloplasty

Hello,

I’ve been experiencing penis hypersensitivity to the right side of the penis head. It comes and goes. If I’m just doing light walking in the house, sitting, or laying I don’t experience much discomfort from it. If I’m walking out of the house, it rubs my clothes then I start getting nervy feelings. Sometimes it feels deeper than just my penis head. I will get occasional reflexive spasms in my groin area from it also. I didn’t start having these issues until getting placed with an ureteral stent to drain my kidney and keep my ureter open. I also had surgery to repair my upj of my ureter. Did these urological procedures irritate my dorsal nerve to my penis? My last stent came out a week ago. Should I just wait another week or should I try to find treatment for it? They’ve put cystoscopes and several Foley catheters up my penis within the past four months as well. I get some relief from spray on lidocaine but it doesn’t last.

It's very possible the procedure irritated or injured the dorsal nerve. There might be imaging procedures such as ultrasound that might be able to detect if any scar tissue has formed that could be causing the irritation.

I would ask the physician if you need treatment but typically it can take nerves some time to heal, so hopefully with time the symptoms will go away. If it's really bothering you a lot, they might be able to prescribe some medication that would relieve your symptoms while the nerve is healing.

Revvy,

It sounds like you have had several procedures done over the last few months or and perhaps time is needed for healing. I have found that sometimes procedures or even just exams can be irritating and make symptoms worse. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
