PREGNANT WITH MONTH PAIN FLARE

I'm so desperate on what to do. On my last PT appt on April 26, she did her usual internal work but she also worked on a different internal area for a couple of mins that caused a bit of pain. Being almost 3 months pregnant I am so beside myself. In the past PT has worked tremendously but I can't shake this horrendous flare. I found out from my OBGYN that I could have a local block into the vagina with trimacolone and marcaine. I did this on Thursday and was only numb for about an hour then pain returned. My question is do you think this PT damaged me? Will I ever get out of this flare? I'm so miserable. I can't do anything. I've been on the couch with ice constantly. Do you think she damaged the nerve??

Thanks!!!

I am so sorry to hear of this awful flare you are having. I am glad that your gyn was able to do something to at least give you some relief even only for a short period. However, the injection included trimacolone which is a type of steriod. The steriod will take about 7-10 days before you will notice pain relief from the steriod. So keep your fingers crossed and hopefully by next week you will start to notice some relief in the pain from the steriod.

Looking,

I'm sorry things are so rough for you right now. I think only time will tell if PT did some permanent damage but I think the important thing is to take it easy and don't feel guilty if you have to rest a lot. If you're a type A like me it's hard to make yourself take it easy. ;)

The marcaine would help immediately but only lasts a few hours (so your doc is right) but nyt is also correct that the steroid kicks in later which means you might still see some improvement. I hope that your physician informed you that while pudendal nerve blocks can help they can also cause permanent increased pain and other symptoms. Often doctors will not tell you that but I know too many people that are currently suffering as a result of nerve blocks so please be careful and go into it fully informed.

Keep your courage up. Hugs,

Violet
