I had bilateral TG surgery with doctor Conway on July 17th. I went for a folow-up to Dr.Quesada on August 17th. He did a hamstring injection into the muscle only because it was in spasm and bothering me. Well, when he did the injection, I felt a pain into my foot. I thought it would go away in a few days because when I used to get trigger points, sometimes the doctor would hit a tendon or something and the pain would go away in a few days. Well, its been two months, and pain shoots through foot on that left leg that was injected. I failed to mention this to Dr. Q on my last visit on Sept. 15 because I felt like a complainer. He is trying to help me with my hamstring and then him help causes another issue and didn't help the hamstring. I just felt funny speaking up, but now I wish I had. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? Again, he injected my upper hamstring, right underneath my left buttock and pain shot down into foot and still present. Worse upon standing and walking.
Thanks you!!!
Sincerely,
Annmarie

Re: Hamstring injection with Dr. Quesada
I wonder if it has something to do with a different muscle spasming and affecting your sciatic nerve which innervates the foot, well the whole back of the leg infact. Was the injection a guided one btw?
Fall 2008. Misdiagnosed with lumber spine problem. MRN June 2010 indicated pudendal entrapment at Alcocks canal. Diagnosed with complex variant piriformis syndrome with sciatic, pudendal and gluteal entrapment's by Dr Filler 2010.Guided piriformis botox injection 2011 Bristol. 2013, Nerve conduction test positive; new spinal MRI scan negative, so diagnosed for the 4th time with pelvic nerve entrapment, now recognised as Sciatic, pudendal, PFCN and cluneal nerves at piriformis level.
Re: Hamstring injection with Dr. Quesada
It sounds like Dr. Q may have gotten the sciatic nerve. If not, your muscle did not like the steriod in the trigger point, which occasionally happens but it sounds much more like the sciatic nerve. You are not a complainer for saying something to Dr. Q as he should know if you are having a problem so make sure you tell him at your next visit. If you can't wait that long then call the office and leave a message. I would hate for this to continue for you. I have had a terrible time with my hamstring on my surgical side also. It is all a mess under my right butt cheek. My massage therapist has been working on it once a week for about 3-4 weeks and I work on it twice a day with self massage. The massage therapist has done wonders with getting it to settle down. I told my PT about it this week but we were busy on my pelvic floor and she forgot to check it before she left the room. I'm going to remind her this week to take a look at it to see what she thinks what else I should be doing. Have you seen PT or a massage therapist to work on the hamstring?
