Ulcerative colitis

Hi everyone

My pudendal pain started 12m ago at the same time I developed rectal bleeding and diarrhoea. Eventually I was diagnosed with an inflammed rectum (proctitis likely Ulcerative Colitis)

The proctitis was treated with Asacol tablets, it took about 6 months to control the inflammation. However the pain persisted eventually worsening. Sitting 8-12 hrs a day and exercising heavily probably didnt help either. I am convinced that this caused a neuritis of my pudendal nere, specialist Gastroenterologist didn't think so. Having said that she didnt know what the pain was.

Is anyone out there aware of a link between Ulcerative Colitis and PN? Or of Any studies linking the two?

Doesn't make a difference overall I know, I just need the PN treating. Just interesting.

Regards

Lex

Lex, I've been following the PN peer reviewed literature for 7 years now and don't remember any studies linking the 2 but it's possible there's something out there. Have you checked out pubmed for peer-reviewed literature on the subject?

I heard that a vegan diet does wonders for Ulcerative Colitis.

Hi lex
I don't know if you have read any of my posts, but one of my reasons ( as well as the much needed support was to gather data about the high incidence of p.n.e with people who have had iliostomys! About seventy present of these people suffered with u.c I consider that the incidence of p.n.e is due to the life saving surjury? Your e. mail gives an interesting slant. Hope this is of interest
