How is Valium absorbed in a suppository? Same as oral?

Hi,

How are Valium suppositories absorbed in the body? Is taking a 10mg Valium suppository the same as swallowing a 10mg pill ?

For some reason I cannot find the answer to this anywhere (googling).

My doctors are clueless, even a psychiatrist I asked!

I currently take Clonex - Knolopin (another benzo), so not sure how they will interact.

A suppository is absorbed through the mucosa of the vagina or rectum so the effects of taking a suppository will be less systemic than taking a pill. In other words the suppository is more concentrated in the area and doesn't have to pass through the gastrointestinal system thus causing less side effects, usually. I do not have much side effect from taking a suppository, whereas taking it orally I usually have a lot of dizziness. I don't get a ton of help from the suppositories, but if my pelvic floor is especially tight or spasmed it will usually calm it down some. They are messy though so I have to lie down for about an hour after I take them or they run out all over the place (vaginally).
