Anyone have their PN blocks done under fluoro? I can't imagine how they would see the nerve. My previous ones were done under ultrasound and were + at the ligaments.
Thanks, cari

Re: Fluoroscopy-guided blocks
They don't "see the nerve" when they are done under fluro, they just look for anatomical landmarks (i.e. ischial spine) and mark your butt with a sharpie then take another "picture" when the needle is in to make sure they are in the right spot before injecting the anesthetic/steroid. They really don't "see the nerve" when done under ultrasound either. They see the pudendal artery which runs alongside the nerve. Mine where done with fluro and ultrasound and I still was numb down the back of my leg (so it spilled over and hit the posterior femoral cutaneous nerve because I was just number part way down my hamstring).
-11/08 vulvodynia began around conception of first & only pregnancy
-3/10 sacral/sitting pain began after SIJD manipulation
-Progressive widespread pain- central sensitization
-PT, meds, injections, botox, ESWT = debilitated.
-5/12 Potter MRI - scarring of left ST, coccygeous & posterior alcock
-12/12 - left FAI/labral hip tear surgery
2014-2019 managed w/ gabapentin, massage, and lifestyle mod

Re: Fluoroscopy-guided blocks
I had 2 blocks done under fluoroscopy. The procedure was faster and easier than the one I had under CT scan.
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

Violet,
Did those pudendal blocks done through floroscopy guidance make your vulva numb for a few hrs?

Re: Fluoroscopy-guided blocks
Yes, mostly. I wouldn't say entirely numb but it was sort of like I lost sensation temporarily.AroraNightfire wrote:Violet,
