Wrong fit?

Post by AroraNightfire »

I was just wondering how many of you did not care for Dr Conway? Every doctor has a different personality. Some personalities we get along well with and others clash. I beleive we clashed big time. I beleive he is an intelligent doctor who knows his stuff. In my case his sarcasm deeply offended me. I held my tongue with him out of respect but I felt very uncomfortable with him. I felt he was cold and he dismissed any other possiblities (diagnosis) I suggested to him. This is simply MY experience. I have heard a number of different opinions from his patients. Some liked his ways, and some didnt. I guess opinions are like %$#holes everyone has one.

I saw Dr. Conway about 4 years and did not have the experience. But like you say sometimes you just clash with a dr because not everyone is a fit. Over the last 5 years I have decided I really don't care what the dr.'s personality is like as long as they a knowledgeable and competitent.

Hi Arora,
Sorry you didn't have a good experience with Dr. Conway. I've been a patient of his for the past few years and appreciate his sincere compassion, easy going manner and professional care.

Agreed. This is truly what's important.
Kind regards,
Karyn

I think Dave is using your initials. A for Arora, N for Night, F for Fire. ANF
PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.

I think Dave was looking for specifics about why you feel you and Dr. Conway clash.
Best,

I have been with Dr. Conway since May of 2010 and been though two different surgeries in 2010 and 2012. I just saw him this October and have a follow up in May.

I live 15 miles from his office and I deal with the pain clinic and PT team on a weekly basis.

I CAN understand why people can have a personality clash. These are my own personal observations from working with both him and his staff.

1. When i first met him I think he used the word "dude" like 4 or 5 times, looking back, I think that this was to acknowledge that I was a man in a OBGYN office.

2. Yes he can be dismissal at times, but on those occasions that i have asked him why, it was due to the fact that he has seen so many patients and has seen what works and what does not. He does not go into detail as to why not unless you ask him.

3. He can be VERY hard to get in contact with, I try calling once or twice a week. But plan on it taking a while to get a response.

4. That response and be at ANY TIME, i have had calls at 9PM and on Sundays.

5. I had complications with my first surgery getting an infection, he was very attentive and was in constant contact with me until it cleared.

6. Dr. Conway understands that allot of us are taking serious opiates and that being in the hospital is difficult, I started having massive headaches when in the hospial and told him that. He looked at the chart and said that it was withdrawal from the opiates as the epidural as blocking the pain. He ordered the nurses to administer some to help manage the pain and symptoms.

My advice:

The best thing I have found to do is to write up a note to him with a status update and all of the information about the issue and call the office and get it faxed there. Once it is there, ask for his nurse to call you back to go over it.

I think you are right that Dr. Conway may have been the wrong fit in this case but the right fit for some other people.

Wendy liked him.

I had surgery with Dr. Conway. He's really such a sweet guy. He will follow you all the way through the aftercare process, if you live close to NH.

Just the fact that he even calls people back I think shows that he really cares about his patients. There are other PN physicians who don't call patients back which I wouldn't blame them for, knowing how hard doctors work. (I have some in the family and you wouldn't believe the hours they have to keep.)
