I have had mild burning/stinging just underneath my "sitting bone" on the right side for 8 months following surgery for a mid-urethral slilng. Unless I sit on a cold gel pack, I am very uncomfortable. But it's not the agonizing pain I see described in some posts. Does this sound like PNE? I will see my urologist later this month and I'm not sure if I should ask her for a referral for an MRN or not.

My PN pain started out as mild pain also. With some people the pain progresses to more severe, with others it remains mild. You might also want to be evaluated by a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor pain -- one who does myofascial release -- to see if that would be helpful in your case.

Thank you, Violet. I really appreciate your response. I neglected to mention that I've been receiving myofascial release therapy for a couple of months with no change whatsoever. Today my therapist suggested that when I see my urologist on 11/23 that I ask her for a referral for an MRN. As far as I can tell, Portland, OR is the closest place to get one for me; I live near Seattle.

If myofascial release isn't helping yet then I think your PT is smart to refer you on for something else. Usually with PT you should start to see some improvement soon. Good luck and let us know how the mrn goes for you.

I, too, have not yet been diagnosed. However, I've been to every doctor available with extreme vaginal burning and pain on and near the tailbone. I've had 5 nerve blocks, 2 of which were specifically placed into both sides of my coccyx. To no avail. I did the research and discovered Dr. Hibner and PNE after given pain and sleeping pills and a goodbye from the spine specialist. I have an appointment in November. You wouldn't think that waiting a few months would be difficult, especially after living with this for years. I just retired from teaching , but it was a disability retirement. Heck of a thing to take you from something you love. Anyway, even if my diagnosis is not PNE, Dr. Hibner is a chronic pelvic pain specialist. I feel he's the right one for me!
