Hi everyone,
Does anyone here know where to get compound creams for nerve pain like gabapentin cream or amitriptyline/ketamine ???
I would have thought London had such a thing, at least with private health care. I might consider private HC if it offers me that ...
thank you all

tiny bartholin infection triggered vulvar nerve pain.
Diagnosed vulvodynia Sept '13 (no burning but electric shocks, paresthesia, aching, buzzing)
Feb 14- Taking 50 mg Ami/Elavil
May 14-pain free with 50 mg Amitriptyline and 300 mg Pregabalin. Back to normal
Dec 15- weaned off all medication, pain free, wearing skinny jeans
April 17- pain returned, Amitriptyline 50 mg. Something doesn't make sense in my diagnosis.
Currently treating depression and anxiety

Hi Mary Jane
Just posting an old thread i started if it helps you http://www.pudendalhope.info/forum/view ... eam#p34734
I was given ketamine cream ordered by a pain consultant and made by the hospital pharmacy. I did eventually try using it for a week but then stopped as i felt that it was causing me more irritation - i was very very reluctant to try it after everything else i've been given so my judgement of it may have been biased.
I have only ever been offered Ketamine in a cream in this country and this seemed to me to be an experiment on the vulva by the consultant. This was on NHS.

thank you Rosemary !
I have also found a girl with amitriptyline cream for australia. didn't work for her so thinking I will buy from her !
If this helps anyone, I found a lady on the intersitital cistytis forum with pudendal pain and IC and her pain consultant made her a lotion which works better than a nerve block (according to her). I'll write down the quote:
"I have had IC/PFD since a nasty spinal surgery in 2005. Two surgeries, 30+ procedures, multiple specialists and medications later, I've finally found a medication that helps me.
It is a combination of drugs that you can use vaginally. Each use is better than receiving a pudendal nerve block or any other injection that I've had. My pain doctor thought I should try it (as everything else had failed) and I've slept all night for the last three weeks. Formerly, I would only get a few hours in total due to waking up in agony and be unable to return to sleep. I'd also be in constant pain during the day - especially after voiding. No longer as the pain cycle has been broken.
The medication combo is as follows:
5% Ketamine
6% Gabapentin
3% Amitriptyline
3% Mefenamic Acid
1% Bupivacaine
My pharmacist compounded it into a lotion inside of a pump bottle. I press the pump so the medicine goes into a large needle-less syringe, put the plunger back in (like the ones used for drawing children's liquid medicine) and inject it into the vagina as you would a yeast treatment. This can also be used rectally. Either way, they both get into the bloodstream within minutes.
I've tried taking many strong oral versions of the medications above (as well as morphine, hydrocodone, neurontin, valium, etc) but received very little relief that was short lived. However, put them together and get them near the pudendal nerve and it works SO much better! Even instills couldn't touch the pain the way this has. In fact, instills caused more pain when the numbing wore off."

I would be cautious about buying medication that has been prescibed for someone else. The cream i was given had a use by date that was only 3months ahead. Medication has to be stored properly too.
Has your gynaecologist consultant prescribed your amitriptyline 50mg that you are currently taking ? - could you ask to try amitriptyline in a cream and have it made up at a hospital pharmacy - it must be possible in London.
