Have any women had any success reducing pain with Lupron injections or pain reduction with the onset of menopause? I understand how the Lupron could help if endometriosis is the real cuprit behind pain, but I wonder if eliminating the monthly cycle and hormonal changes can decrease pain. I have tried to determine in my pain is cyclical without much success. Any input is appreciated!

Hi Stephanie,
I do not have endo, but have ceased with periods about 18 mos ago. I have had PN pain for a little over 3 yrs now and I can say nothing changed with or without periods.

I took Lupron for endometriosis for close to a year and it had no effect whatsoever on my PN pain. It is a very powerful estrogen suppressant with many adverse side effects so please consider it carefully before trying it.

Thank you for the responses. My doctor knows someone whose PN was closely tied to her cycle and she was helped tremendously by Lupron. The more I read about the side effects, however, the more I fear it will worsen the situation.
