Hi,
Hold on there for a few more days Sister. You have your appointment coming soon with Dr. Hibner. It could be the Piriformis muscle which could be the underlying problem for the sciatia pain. There is some connection between the Piriformis muscle syndrome and Pudendal Nerve Entrapment and at the moment I can't remember it.
Regards,
Ali

What Ali said!
Hang on there. Your pain doctor has explained, you don't need to be frightened. We instinctively 'know' that pain is a warning signal, something is wrong and we need to act fast! - but this is not necessarily the case with neuropathic pain. Sometimes it is 'just' referred pain and has no significance in itself - but it still hurts of course!
Try to consciously relax and breathe through it. (Not easy, I know.) Remember it will pass. And you are seeing Dr Hibner soon.

Re: Stabbing Buttock Pain
Hi Missing,
I have the same problem as you do...stabbing buttock pain. My problem is that all the muscles in my leg jump at the same time as the pain. It's terrible, laying on your side eating dinner and my leg goes flying. It was bad all night last night and my muscles are as sore today as if I'd been working out for an hour.
Have you tried PT? It really helps me, when I go. Right now my problem is that I haven't been for two weeks and I'm really looking forward to it. It's not the same when I try and do it
But I have surgery soon with Dr. Hibner and I'm just trying to stay calm.

Re: Stabbing Buttock Pain
Yes, I do.
Athlete until pain started in 2001. Diagnosed with PN in Nov. 2010. Probable cause: 3 difficult labors, 5 pelvic surgeries for endometriosis, and undiagnosed hip injuries. 60% better after 3 rounds of shockwave therapy in Cornwall, Ontario (Dec - Feb/12). 99% better after bilateral hip scopes for FAI and labral tears (April and July/12). Pelvic pain life coach Lorraine Faendrich helped me overcome the mind/body connection to chronic pain: http://www.radiantlifedesign.com

Yes, I do too - in fact I hate to either urinate or pass a bowel movement, because it can set all "hell" loose....

Re: Stabbing Buttock Pain
I too have that pain. Made worse by bm's and bending.
Have been dealing with burning pain since Jan 2010.
No sitting since April 2010.
Seen the following dr's: DO, GYN, Dermatologist, Accupuncturist,
URO GYN (his RN is the one who suggested the pain could be PN), Neurologist
Had ECG and MRI both inconclusive, only the SSEP said Pudendal reaction was abnormal and they lost that test result.
Saw Dr. Castellanos April 6, 2011. Next steps, MRI and botox. Having PT while waiting.-Botox denied, appealing to Insurance company now.

WOW! I feel so helpless. I knew ocassionally BM's caused this for her but just urinating???
Does anyone have a theory or medical explanation as why?
I wish she wasn't going through this!!
