Do I have Pudendal Neuralgia/Entrapment?

Post by AccomplishedTill »

It started with low back pain on the right side (nerve-like sharp sensation) around the sacroiliac joint. Now my vagina is completely numb (no sexual sensations, no physical sensations like light touch). My clitoris has lost about 80-90% of its sensation as well. I also have bowel dysfunction, chronic constipation, and the feeling of incomplete emptying and the need to go several times within a very short time span. This latest symptom has been occurring everyday for the past few months. And lastly, when I sit on a bike, I get pins and needles at my saddle area, and sometimes numbness.

Do you think I have pudendal nerve entrapment??

Sometimes it can be difficult to differentiate between spinal radiculopathies and PN/PNE. Were you ever checked for cauda equina syndrome and did you have an MRI of the lumbosacral area to rule out any nerve root impingements? It sounds like you need a better diagnostic work-up by a provider who knows what they are doing.

In the meantime you could also try seeing a PT who specializes in the pelvis/pelvic pain who can do a pelvic exam to see if your pudendal nerve is irritated down there.

PNE since 2002. Started from weightlifting. PNE surgery from Dr. Bautrant, Oct 2004. Pain now is usually a 0 and I can sit for hours on certain chairs. No longer take medication for PNE. Can work full time and do "The Firm" exercise program. 99% cured from PGAD. PNE surgery was right for me but it might not be for you. Do your research.
