Pudendal nerve and hip problem

Post by river133 »

Did see the orthopedic dr. the other day,, I have something called greater bursitis, also IT band.. I believe that is what he said.. He suggested a steroid shot in the hip.. I decided not to do that at this time.. maybe later..He sent me to PT. I do have some exercises for stretching the I T band.. THe pt said she wants to streghthen the pelvic floor... I told her it was too painful to do that.. she wants me to do some gentler exercises, but I am not doing those... I sure would like to get this hip and the band better... Of course it is all connected .. .. I am not sure what to do,, I just know I hurt like crazy,, more actually in the hip now than the pn.. I will soon be 7 months post op.
Surgery Jan.05 2011 TG with Dr Antalok. Dr.Chambi May of 2012 showed injury from a fall on back, 11 years ago. My piriformis muscle caused a large amount of fibrosis .My sciatic nerve was growing through the piriformis muscle which caused a bifid p.muscle. . Dr Chambi decompressed the sciatic, pudendal, pfcn ,and peroneal nerves. I hope to have a nuerostimulator put in to help with the sciatic pain that never goes away. Most days are better with the pudendal if I do not sit at all.

What about connective tissue mobilization for the IT band? The PT should be able to do that, if not you might want to find one that can. It is gentler than myofascial release and might be a good place to start. Do you have leg length difference? Is your pelvis out of alignment? Both of these can contribute to IT band problems. What about tight glutes? A PT or massage therapist could work on your butt. My massage therapist knows my butt even better than the husband  .

Why no steriod? Did you have problems with steriods before? It might help settle everything down, even what inflammation that might be going on since the surgery.

Check out the links for some suggestions for self treatments and exercises.

I love reading these links because these syndromes tend to occur in runners. We pudendal patients put a whole new meaning to athletes   .
