What to expect from Botox

Post by Quilter 2 »

Hi everyone;
I finally got approved for Botox and now I'm getting nervous. Can anyone tell me what to expect from the outcome? It's suppose to be given in my obturator muscle on both sides. I realize everyone is different but any past stories will help me to know what to "possibly" expect if the shot backfires.
Thank-you muchly;
Doreen

you can have swelling making urination or defecation difficult 10 days after or less... it takes 7-14 days for the botox to kick in. You'll feel kicked by a horse after the injections for a few days, some post injection bleeding.... I hope they put you under, but I've had them done both awake and asleep and it's surviveable.

if botox makes you worse, expect some other area to spasm to compensate for the relaxed muscles... and increases in pain... but if it works, then you'll just have softer tissue where injected and relief of pain.

I am praying it helps you!
-straddle fall age 4-7 w/bleeding labia, tampons hurt in teens, papsmere started annoying pelvic 'tingling' & pne in 02
-obturator surgery w/ Filler in 05 (useless, created sciatic & plantar fascitis pain)
-TIR surgery w/ Bautrant in 08 and vestibulectomy in 08 in France (vest. removed pain w/intercourse, pain w/sitting increased post surgery)
-chronic fatigue & food allergies/migraines (gluten, milk) from pain meds in 08
-want a life back. I'm 34 w/8+ years of pain

Just a recommendation, but when my dr added some decadron and lidocaine to the botox injections, it greatly reduced the kicked in the horse feeling pianogal refers to.

What muscles are you going to have botoxed?

Hi Doreen,
I've never had Botox but wish you the very best! Is Dr. Q doing it for you? When is your appointment?
With love and hugs,
Karyn
